Who we are:

Hudson Valley Ds (HVDs) is a BDSM social, educational, and support group centered in NY’s Mid Hudson Valley Region that has been in existence since about 1995 due to the hard work and dedication of our beloved founder Paul Tartan Lea aka “Tart”. (Thank you Paul, you are missed!)

We currently have an adult yahoo group that gives us a place to discuss and share ideas and get to know each other in a safe supportive environment. We also hold public & private events in our area and arrange to attend functions offered by other area groups and organizations.

Online Membership

Our Yahoo group was founded in June 0f 2002 and currently has over 200 members. We are a very friendly and welcoming group and enjoy meeting new people that share common interests.

The primary purpose of this list is to enable members to stay in touch about upcoming events and discuss BDSM topics. The group varies in it’s level of on-line activity but at any given time there can be an interesting topic of discussion going on, friends offering each other support and well wishes through good times & bad, as well as postings about our events and other area events of interest that some of our members may decide to get a carpool going to. Our list is a great place to share information and make friends, but please do not join if your intention is only to "troll" or pick up "kinky sex partners".

Membership to the yahoo list is open to all interested persons over the age of 18. Since this is an adult-oriented yahoo group, your membership application will be rejected if you do not have a yahoo profile that includes your age showing that you are at least over 18.

You may receive mail at another email address as an option when you sign up for a yahoo account but please be SURE to fill out a Yahoo profile with your age and your general location. Our members are unable to see the members list, only moderators have access to that info but yahoo can and has deleted adult oriented groups that do not police themselves well enough in this area. We also ask that if you are accepted you set your mail to at least special notices. So that we can communicate any special messages to you.

You'll find once you become a member that we are a very inclusive group, but to protect our members (including you once your membership has been approved!) we require all people requesting new membership to answer a few questions (which are auto sent when you request membership):

Our Public Events -

We currently offer 2 monthly public “Meet & Greet” type events that are open to sincerely interested parties.

Our Munch -

Our groups holds it’s monthly munch on the 3rd Sunday of the month at a restaurant in Wappingers. This gathering is open to anyone with a sincere interest in BDSM. Please note that since this IS a family restaurant you are asked to dress accordingly vanilla and be aware that our members and attendees are welcome to bring their families to our Sunday munch. The topic of conversations will often run the gamut but more often than not this is a safe non threatening place just to put faces with names and have some friendly conversation over a meal or a coffee.

Dance Night -

We also offer an evening excursion at a hotel lounge / bar a bit further south. This event will generally take place on the second Saturday of each month, however that date is flexible depending on conflicting holidays or other area events. You must be 21 to attend this event due to the alcohol license factor.

Our Private Events –

Our group also sponsors classes, discussion groups and other occasional private gatherings but in order to attend these type of events, we need to get to know you pretty well first. (After all would you let just anyone of the street into YOUR home?) The best place to begin in to join the list and come out to some of our public events and make some friends. Once we get to know you we will let you know what you need to know to come to a private event. <wink>
